Profile

Where I Live:
the Edge of Nob Hill
About Me:
My wife and I have lived here now for almost a year and a half. We were formerly of New Orleans but the big storm served notice on that. Spent some time wandering around India and S. America before crawling back to the states and deciding on Albuquerque. Besides the incredibly weak (dive) bar scene/ drinking laws, we like it here.
I used to be a photographer but am not doing much these days with that. The portfolio you'll find on my website mostly consists of images taken from my travels abroad. Ive been through Mexico, C. America, S. America, Australia, S.E. Asia, Morocco, India, etc.
I would like to get my work shown here in town, as I had done in N.O. but admittedly havent put much effort into it. I like to BBQ, watch films, drink liquor, listen to the Hi-Fi, play backgammon, tend to my cactus, and lalalalala
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
On some days it can be quite nice. I wish there were more of those days.
Relationship Status:
Married
My Website:

What I'm Reading:
Journey To The End of The Night by Celine, The Alibi
What I'm Listening To:
The wind blowing trash in to my yard, the cat mewing to come in, CD's on the Hi-Fi because no one of significance will ever come to this musical dead zone...(except Beck)

The Die in Cast

effacing all the patterns from the acres of fabric we rifle through aided by only the spirits; lounging on our tongues leaving the canvas in a state of reception and it was upon this that we sketched out our future in sly strokes and blind lashes siphoning a lifetimes worth of dreams from the archives of our soul and spilling them out like die waiting, watching, for a forecast to evolve and to assemble something maplike and this night is as long as the journey we have made upon it yet, so far r… Continue

waiting for the albatross

the fountain of youth doesnt flow through this carcass of the desert there is only legions of wind that snap at the flesh and the heady fangs of sun that steal at your endurance leaving you trembling and listless a solitary figure rooted in a great expanse of nothing and inside the museum where you sometimes find rest the mirrors see all too well what has not persevered what the dimmest bulb cannot conceal we know some things decay with grace while others just fall apart and the difference is… Continue

a massive bummer of an album

a Massive Bummer of an Album or my unfinished symphony Im fairly sure that I could write something to satisfy each of you to your own. In fact, in each your own time I certainly have, havent I? But being seductive and having seduced arent exactly of the same skill set, are they? but to write something that satisfies myself......well, thats what left to be done isnt it? Im trying to put together a moment in time, in this space, that requires a type of mathematics that may no longer exist. A cl… Continue

ear to the earth

the aching mechanics working behind the bones
subtle assassinations trussed into the marrow
leaves me wishing for a sponsor
or a savior
a presence of mind
to confide in
to whom I could ask:
raise me up to the sky
cart me off to the sea
anything to rustle me free
from this sallow harvest in the desert

lying in the tubercular shade of winters elm
waiting for the ravens
waiting for something unfor…

in the eyes of an audience of absentees: neither factual nor actual

an auburn tide

unsheathed from the annals of a journey

spill like fire across the forefront of the battlefield

inside the windmill the structure aches

the images of what transpired;

If you ever feel like meaningful/meaningless conversation, you can email me. I sent you my address in a PM. its really sad to see this site disintigrate. Its got a good name/URL, maybe the city can buy it and turn it into tourism outreach.

I think it takes a certain type of person to like NO (sorta the same as Abq). very poetic liking and thinking.

you do come across as always in a bad mood, since you never comment on anything but what you don't like. further evidence that we all read too much into eachother!

"LOL. I have a well sketched image of you in my mind!!!" I will most definitely choose to interpret that as a really huge compliment!

No apology necessary, I shouldn't say things that are open to interpretation if I don't want them to be open to interpretation.

regarding your experience with posts about people on the edge of complete dissolute poverty cooking $60 steaks:
You forget, my dear man, that polite American society has no room for your suggestions of Class Issues. We do not have class issues in America. Anyone that wants to be President can/will be, and your observations are just negativist. While you're at it, try the veal patte, and in a loud, self-satisfied voice discuss how great it will be when a different wealthy stranger gets elected...

Hmmm I'm not sure about all of that. I've always found Nob Hill strange--in that it's struggling for an identity. Some people want to it to be hipster, others another ABQ Uptown, and still others want a shopping district for UNM-oriented folk. Personally, I buy very little there--and actually with my limited budget politely excused myself from a restaurant once I saw the prices on the menu. I enjoy the people watching--and still think Central Avenue--from end to end--is the city's axis. I think there are a lot of things working against making Nob Hill the district you describe. One would be the high rents, but a close second would be look around. This city is brimming with small strip mall after small strip mall of small businesses. I've actually never lived in any town where there were so many in so many parts of a city. And I think because of their longtime connection to their location they'd be loathe to move to Nob Hill. As much as it is an easy pinata to hit--I've lived in towns with nothing like it and would much rather have it in its current form than nothing at all.
