Sorry for taking so long to get back. Thanks for kind words about ABQ Dwell. Hope you do indeed make it back for good!
And just because of the weather, I'd want to get out of Chicago. It's a great city but holy cow--winter takes on another meaning in that part of the world.
I consider myself now to be a New Mexican, Nuevo Mexicano, Hispano or Hispanic. I agree that NM is generally more at ease with the mix of cultures than anywhere else I've been. I think that's why so many New Mexicans that leave eventually come back.
I truly never really appreciated the beauty and uniqueness of NM till I did some traveling and living out of state. I'm truly proud to be from here.
Anyway, good to hear your perspective man.
