Shop'n'Stroll photo tour

Sunday, August 24. It's 1pm and I've just tried cafe de olla and/at Los Equipales for the first time. Lovely. Today's actual destination is Nob Hill- all of it. It's the second Sunday Shop and Stroll and we're going to check it out. As promised, all car traffic on Central between Girard and Washington is gone. Free reign for bicyclists and pedestrians.… Continue

Birds of the SW in the SE Heights

This has been a great year for hummingbird visitors. For the last few weeks a rufus has claimed the feeder outside my office window. This one comes back every 20 minutes- which suggests to me C's formula for bird-smack is working really well (Perhaps she'll post her secret recipe)… Continue

Trying The Downtown Experience

Friday, July 25 2008. It's 6pm and we've just parked at the lot on 5th and Copper. Usually I'm here to visit the Main Library, but tonight we're here for the… Continue

Man vs The Elm

May 7, 2008 through May 31, 2008. On my way out the door to the latest foothills expedition I snap a quick picture of my new nemesis. It's a stump that used to hold up a 60 year old elm tree. Now it's… Continue

High(desert)lander

May 7, 2008. It's 6:30AM and I'm going to remember my sock liners today. I make some tea, put on my boots and head toward the foothills. I'd planned on visiting Piedra Lisa Canyon, but then Duke City Fit did a good write-up on it. Today I'm going back to the Embudo Canyon trailhead, but hiking north into a wash, then up.

thanks for the positive comments, i'm a bit perplexed by how incredibly negative folks can be! I'm a bit worried about the whole transportation thing, but I'll be, personally, on the buses in the morning instructing the drivers to make sure they pick up people trying to get to the bus... stop by ye olde shoppe when your out! .. actually the last stroll, i missed the last bus and ended up walking almost the whole way home --- guess the city failed me ;)

We cannot grow east due to the Sandias. We cannot grow north because of Sandia Pueblo. And no one will let us grow south because they and I want it to stay rural. So west it our only option. I worked for SunCal and Westland Development. And it's a sure thing; the west is the area we are looking for. Are you saying we should not make any potential building opportunities for the people who want to build their own nest and leave their parrents?

You make a good point. I do however know that by 2020 we will have more than 200,000 people living on the western edge of BC and more in SC. So perhaps it is necessary?

Hey Brendan. Always been impressed with your gasoline powered tool use . The stump grinder photos were very cool. Do you have any small engine repair shop that you would recommend? Thanks

I'm guessing all your apricots have fallen by now. Next year, I can come and supply you with a tax deduction receipt if you let my non-profit harvest your trees. See more here:

The City Historic Presevation planner is a great resource. eboles@cabq.gov
You would have to make an apointment
What I was looking at was a hard copy, 24x36ish size and a little crumbly at the edges, but very nice resolution.
The ABQ museum has a good photo archive too.
I don't know what is available in digital form, I haven't found much.
Good luck.
