We went wimp camping this last weekend. When I was a kid we used to go not so wimpy camping, driving way back to the unimproved side of Heron Lake and camping for week. This was never roughing it. We had lots of good food, canoes and sailboats, the lake to swim in, fossils to find. However my parent’s generation is getting older and my generation is a bunch of self-proclaimed wimps. Have I created a monster?

One of things that has always worked well for me about New Mexico is the choice in clothing. Many people work on style, not so much what is fashionable, but what looks good or is fun to wear. I think that some of this is income related. We are a state of good yard sale/thrift store shoppers. Some of it is art related, even people with money have been known to lean toward the funky. At 4:43pm on September 4th, 2008, Caleb Miles said…: left albuquerque in '93, headed east to kentucky for three years, then went west to portland, oregon for eight years, then my wife saw a job posted in nova scotia (she was looking for jobs in canada the day after bush got "re-elected") and applied for it and got it. big move but it has worked out really well, it is beautiful out here, friendly, and i am able to be a musician full-time.
(i used to walk through martineztown on my way to and from bulldog city.)
