Random Thursday ABQ Thoughts

While driving down I-25, passing a familiar local lawyer's billboard Ron Bell, I'd never really made the connection before, but you are so doing "Blue Steel". A few minutes later, also driving down I-25 Man driving a truck with… Continue

Has it really been that long, Albuquerque?

It takes a bit of gumption to pack up and move somewhere new, even if it's to a city in the state you were born and grew up in. Who isn't at least a tiny bit nervous when they move away from their hometown to go off to college? I certainly was when I moved to Las Cruces from Santa Fe in 1987 to go to New Mexico State University. When I moved to Farmington in 1991, for a summer internship at the Farmington Daily Times, that was kinda scary too. And then three years later, I packed up and… Continue

Dear Mother Nature...

Can we talk? It's about this wind we've been having. Since, oh, what was it, January? February? 2003? Basically, it just feels like it's never stopped being windy. Sure, there were a few days here and there when it wasn't windy. It was maybe breezy. And I even think there have b… Continue

Spring Comes to the East Mountains

It's been four springs since we moved to the East Mountains from the Northeast Heights of the Big City, and every year, I've delighted in watching life come slowly back to our land. When we bought this house, we also became stewards of not only junipers and pinons, but also a f… Continue

Snow!

One of these days, I need to write a blog post here on DCF that isn't about snow. Today is not that day. It's snowing here in Sandia Park! I am very excited about this. Of course, I don't know if it will last or how much we'll get, but right now, it's making me happy. It smells gorgeous outside. The mountains have become obscured by whiteness. The trees look as though they've been turned into dessert, dusted with powdered sugar. Yay!

Welcome to ABQ! Hope you're liking it so far. You all should have been here *last* year--we had SO much snow it was unbelievable! I can post a few pics from last year's snow-stravaganza on my page to show you. I'm hoping it will snow soon, as well. :-)

Thanks for your nice comments on my postings/video!

My partner and I and a good friend of ours just moved here from Phoenix about 3 weeks ago. We're looking forward to our first good snowfall.....hopefully it will happen soon :o)
