Where I Live:
once albuquerque now NYC
About Me:
Hello all, Just found this site and thought what the hell I'll make an account. Hmmm about me well I am from Albuquerque, I moved to New York City about three years ago this spring. I'll tell ya it was one hell of a transition. I do miss Home and especially the wonderful green and red chile. In fact I'm feeling a lil home sick right now,. I went back in december to visit family. OMG I was such a chile fiend, when I got off the plane, it was 9pm on a thursday...I told my aunt take me to Frontier, I had the Breakfast burrito and OOOH the most fabulous tortillas... my jones was instantly satisfied like a junkies first hit of the day. I'll tell you... can never find mexican food here in NYC like in NM. Ohh yea this is suppose to be about me and not my obsessive cravings.
Well Like any one else I enjoy oxygen, clean underwear, and your ocassional Martini, In case you ever make it out to NYC go to the upper east side theres a great lil martini joint on 87th and 2nd ave " Uptowns" that my favorite spot for Martini's the price is right and its a few block a way from the 6 train. I recomend the 'REMEDY" just what the docotor odered.
Any hoot I'm a mother of two and right now I'm working in the Bronx and not enjoying it. Which means I will have to hunt for another occupation. Did you ever see the Warriors...Well commutting is similar to that... always gotta watch your back....naw I'm just fucking with ya, Its actually safe during the day...lol but you learn to adjust and listen to your instints to stay clear of certain neighborhoods. Luckly being Native American I am mistaked for being domincian, Puerto rican , or mexican I dont get messed with. for you in NM you know what I mean...here in NYC it usually means you dont need a visa to work. New Mexico is actually part of the United States. You woud'nt beleive how many here dont know this...and were talking high school students. PSST and its said NYC has some of the best education. Great as long as your not from PS in the bronx. Manhattan different though, more diverse and intellegent. Any way you get the idea, I babble, love to blog and talk nonsense and waste my time on the puter typing words of use less information with bad grammer and spelling...Oh well that me in a nut shell...add me as and friend I soon you will find your comment area filled with mindless babble as well

Great photo-page and witty comments that you created! I used to live in Williamsburg 20 years ago before it was "gentrified", then moved to the Lower East side a few doors from the Russian Bathhouse. Clubs were amazing back then, there was one called "Payday" that moved every Monday and "Save the Robots".

Well, I recently moved from Memphis but I'm originally from New Orleans. The landscape out here is so different from what I'm used to...I think that's what drew me to the area. So what are some of your favorite places to eat here that you'd recommend?

"Ello, how tis going up in da mountians? ya know Bree? "

Ella, I only get back to Taos on the weekends. I'm stuck here in the downtown area of America's 5th largest city during the week. Bree? I've heard of her. Ask her if she's heard of "Remedio".

Don't limit yourself to just one restaurant.

NYC has hundreds of great restaurants, with several new ones opening up almost every day of the week.

6 years ago, there was a great place on the LES to get "arepas" (something like empanadas), a country cusine from Venezuala.

The quality may have gone down recently, but it might be worth checking out:
Caracas Arepa Bar
Venezuelan, South American
93 1/2 E 7th St, New York 10009
Btwn 1st Ave & Ave A

Hi,
I read somewhere that you moved to NYC and were craving N. Mexican food.

Well, they probably don't have good Comida Nueva Mexicana in NYC, but they actually do have some of the best Mexican food anywhere--including Mexico.

Check out Rosa's on the Upper East or West sides.

There are others, with lots of high end food.

Stay away from the low end stuff, unless you enjoy paying $8 for a burrito that is worse than one you can get in NM for $4.

Hi, I am surprised that you can get good New Mexico type Mexican food in New York. I live in Texas and until very recently there was not a good Mexican Food restaurant in Houston. Not that the Mexican food here is no good. It's just not New Mexican type of Mexican food. Red inchiladas here don't have red chile, they have some crap they call "chile gravy." It's just like regular gravy with some type of red food coloring. I'm not sure how they make this stuff. Anyway, I am glad for you that you can find good New Mexico type Mexican food in New York.

Yes, I listened to some Pigface back in my industrial days. Good for you moving to NY - I love it there - there's never a dull moment. I know what you mean about people not knowing that NM is part of the U.S. - when I told people I was moving here some people thought it was part of Mexico...unbelievable. Feel free to mindlessly babble anytime!
