In Which the Isotopes Build a Nice Picket Fence

Well, I survived my weekend of baseball. The Isotopes, however, did not make it easy. I haven't said anything about Friday or Saturday night's games, because, well, they were kinda bad. In both contests, the 'Topes fell behind early, due to a combination of poor pitching and porous defense. Then, they couldn't come back. Boo! Walkoffs, or a Bad Night for the Boys in Blue

So, I'm going to be spending a LOT of time at Isotopes Park this weekend. How much time? Well, I was at tonight's game. And I'll be at tomorrow's night's, too. And Saturday's. And Sunday's. We Didn't Start the Fire

So, this evening a little before 6, I was driving back to my apartment from my folks' place. The route took me down Lead, whereupon I noticed something a little off. Namely, a column of smoke drifting up and over the road. Not something you see everyday, really. It appeared to be coming from area of the little market that's a block from my house. The Ballad of Four

I've just returned from the home opener of the Albuquerque Isotopes, a highly entertaining affair, despite the fact that it was flipping cold the whole night, and the fact that the Isotopes lost. Still, it was baseball, glorious baseball, played live before me in a beautiful stadium. The trappings of Summer were there, despite being buried under the freakishly glacial conditions, and having spent the past five months looking forward to the opener, I have to say I came away sated.
