“Time slows down amid donkeys” writes Merrifield. “ … It's hard to forget their innocent gaze. It's a calm that instills calm.” Thank you for the recommendation. We are in the amidst of negotiating an offer on our house and could benefit from some calming wisdom.
Tregelly’s Fiber Farm is a wonderful place to visit. It sits up on high hill in western MA overlooking a broad expanse of other hilltops. Talk about green! Tibetan prayer flags blowing in the breeze.
Yaks, camels, donkeys, goats, … Fodder for planning a hands-on educational program connecting kids with animals and the rich cultures they represent.
charlottesville - that's a lovely area. there is a retreat center north of there where I have gone for buddhist meditation programs. beautiful enough to be distracting. do you ever miss the "green"?
yes, donkeys. we are complete neophytes but are definitely intrigued. So I have been reading The Definitive Donkey and Making Burros Fly: Cleveland Amory .... we visited with this handsome fellow at a fiber farm on a recent visit to Massachusetts.
I think he is a french Poitou - big fellow with large shaggy head. he won our hearts immediately so I can't even imagine how much you must miss your animals.
"hours at the library" - another common activity. I love our local libraries in both my town and two others. Lately Interlibrary loan has been a great source of materials on alternative building and all things southwest. another favorite 'library": Barnes and Nobles! a large stack of magazines, a cup of coffee and the whole afternoon disappears!
Re: Virginia. We live down by Williamsburg - on the water with lots of trees and green grass. Pretty much the opposite of NM. Do you still have family here? ~ Zoe
ps. the fries at annapurna really are wonderful!
Thanks so much for recommending Los Poblanos. It looks so beautiful!
Hi! Not too long ago I wrote a blog about Church of Beethoven - it is FABULOUS, but now is becoming very popular. If you go, be sure to get there at least a half hour before it starts, and bring a jacket or scarf of something to drape over your seat to save it first, and then get your coffee or tea. :)
Maybe we could think about meeting at 7 or 7:30 ish tomorrow? Cruise around for an hour or so?
Thanks for the kind words re: my blog. I like NM summers so much better than DC. Today there's a heat advisory - hot and humid - blech!
