Where I Live:
Downtown Albuquerque
About Me:
I am a: kaphic, mesomorphic, scorpio, sheep (or goat), Buddhist massage therapist who also works for the government; I'm partnered; My dogs rule me; I believe that in order to live a happy life you have to accept that life is birth sickness, old age and death which causes us to suffer. That suffering creates Rich Texture, Beauty and Creative Work.

I was trained in massage by a curandera that lived next door to my Grandmother 25 years ago. I utilize a type of massage therapy called Integrative Neuromuscular Therapy. It incorporates the meditative techniques of Cranial Sacral therapy with deep and deeper tissue techniques of Myofascial therapy and Triggerpoint therapy in order to achieve a balanced sense of well being.

I've been a practicing Buddhist since 1987 and I sit on the Board of Directors for the RigDzin Dharma Foundation, a Tibetan Buddhist center in the Drikung Kagyu lineage. I'm also a Vipassana practitioner and facilitate the Friday Night Calm Abiding sittings at the RigDzin Center.

That's Gratitude for You!

I'm having a hard time figuring out why I'm still angry about an incident that occurred over two weeks ago. I'm usually not one to hang onto something as intangible as emotion but for some reason I'm hanging onto this like it's some kind of treasure. You see, for the last three years I've been organizing massage therapists to provide massage for the participants of the walk and bike benefits of the American Diabetes Association. Last year I was able to add the Junior Diabetes Research Foundatio… Continue

The Fine Line of Metrosexuality

A month or so ago I saw a former employee of UPS on the channel 4 News who was entering a courthouse on charges of stealing items off of UPS trucks and reselling them. What drew me to the story was not his gumption but his eyebrows. They were so ridiculously PLUCKED and his arms were clearly shaved, it looked like he has a family member in beauty school trying to teach him what "looks hot". He is not the only example, and I fear that a line has been crossed over metrosexuality. In my opi… Continue

Gone with No Warning

My partner and I were taking a drive north on 4th street this last Sunday evening. As we were nearing I-40 I was nearly thrown out the wind shield from the slamming of the brakes. My partner pointed and said, "LOOK!! When did that happen?" To my dismay the Dos Amigos sign had been covered by a "Weck's Open in February" sign. Does anyone know what/when it happened. Seems I was just there a couple of weeks ago and there wasn't any indication that they were in any kind of trouble.

RIP Dos… Continue

As Tomorrow Draws Near...

Look around this City we all claim to be the best. Take a look at the art on UNM Campus; take a look at the galleries and notice the art on the walls; take a trip to the museums, open spaces, parks; Open the papers and realize that there are very few reminders that tomorrow, December 1, is World AIDS Day.

It's called World AIDS Day-A day without art. It is supposed to be a day that is marked by art that has been covered or shrouded in commemoration of all the artists world wide who hav… Continue

Damn! I turned 40!!!

I can't believe I made it here. I can't believe that twenty years ago I used to think that I could have died at 21 and been satisfied in thinking I'd seen it all.

Since the middle of this October I've been reliving several defining moments of the last twenty years (moments defined by people, it seems to be how

So far, in our new semi-blind methodology exquisite corpse, only two group members of our fabulous, talented collected collective have contributed. And I know there’s a brilliant submission in each of y’all. So, I’m extending the submission non-deadline and making a plaintive plea for your creative input.

The Theme®: ants, an apple tree, childhood memories, the dentist, a solar eclipse, a theremin, a third-story window, and acetone.

The two last sentences that we have thus far are:

"I know what I must do." – Freekbuoy

"That night I dreamed the car went over the edge and we were falling and falling." – Sleeplessgrl

I’m going to leave the submission process upon for another week, in the hope that over members will contribute; remember, you can contribute a sentence, a paragraph, or however much you feel like contributing. I’m hoping that y’all will consider contributing at least a paragraph (3 sentences or more) to this corpse. So, next Sunday night, I will post the finished corpse.

As a reminder, the submission process for our new submission process is to e-mail your submission as a Word (.doc) file to me at samantha.anne.scott (at) gmail (dot) com.

I hope to hear from y’all soon. Until then, stay creative.

Lurve,
Samantha Anne

Let’s make some art.

XOXO,
