My fiance will be driving the whole way, but I'll only get to drive part way and then will fly the rest (too bad : ( but I'm in a rush). Someday I'll have to do the whole thing and see everything.... He'll have 7 full days of driving, one ferry and a border crossing - phew!
Oh you bet about the reaction when you tell people you're from Albuquerque. They can't spell it and they usually know squat about NM. I used to be a walking commercial for the city and state. My wife talked me out of it. Why? I get tired of educating people who have access to the internet. And...they hold onto their perceptions (negative ones) about the state even after you talk to them. My wife pointed out that this is a VERY GOOD THING! Let the people keep their points of view and please stay out of NM except when you come to visit - ha ha. That means less people to compete for my jobs, housing, etc.
But many smart people are moving back. I keep in touch with a guy who is well networked within ABQ. It makes me so excited about coming back. There is so much opportunity out there along with the better lifestyle, etc. I can't wait to move. So, this new job....I hope, is my last one before I leave in Dec of 2010. It's hard to hold back my excitement.
(I just received the latest version of NM Business Magazine and it was talking about the future in NM and it's endless.....)
Okay...back to work. I am multi-tasking - listening to a web demo and writing this message. Ah yes. I can chew gum and stand at the same time. Welcome to the Bay Area - ha ha!
