Fringecrest, ABQ
About Me:
I love my home, Albuquerque, the Duke City, ABQ, whatever you want to call it. I've heard every name in the book and nothing you can say will tarnish my image of the lovely 'Burque. From the Frontier restaurant (Le Cafe Frontroire, www.frontierrestaurant.com) on Central Ave., to the Sunport, to the Rio Grande, to... well, you get idea. I remember when Montgomery and Eubank were city limits, when you could sit at the Sunport Observation Deck (outside, on the roof, above the gates) and watch your loved ones land and take off with deafening roars, when the Dukes played at a field with a chicken wire back-stop and wooden grandstands that swayed with the crowd's cheers, and when the summer monsoons became a spectator sport, with most of your neighbors standing with you in the rain, watching and wondering at the water rushing through washed out roads and arroyos for anything from the NE Heights swept up in the dangerous current.

That's right, I'm older than most of you.

The City has changed, of course. Le Cafe Frontroire now covers about half a city block. The City limits butt against the National Forest and the Elena Land Grant to the east and Sandia reservation to the north. Concrete-lined arroyos guide the summer monsoons innocuously around and beneath our streets safely to the Rio Grande. The Dukes have been sold and replaced by the Isotopes, a team ever-so appropriately named by an episode of the 20th century's greatest television show, The Simpsons.

I love this town.

Hi NMBosque -

Loved reading your profile! By any chance is your memory of the Dukes (above in your profile) at the old Tingley Park across the street from the zoo? I'm hoping to talk to a few people about their experiences watching baseball at Tingley - PM me if you are interested.

Nice to meet you, Forrest! If you're interested in an art show that's a little more adventurous, I'll be participating in the Black Market show late this month. Watch the Art in ABQ group for a flyer.

where is this garage sale going to be located? I have a loveseat, a bed frame and a matress that I would like to donate, I have a truck but I would need help loading and unloading. I would also like to get "rid" of the stuff ASAP, so if I could do it this weekend that would be awesome.
