Where I Live:: Hypothetically: in the East-ish end of Nob Hill (sorta). Realistically: in the lab.

About Me:: Grew up just outside of Portland, OR. Moved here a few years ago for grad school. When not working, like to do most anything outside, especially up north in the mountains. I miss the rain and am unreasonably happy when we get the occasional gray, damp day here. I am currently eating a black jelly bean. I'm a sarcastic smart-ass and a total nerd.

What I'm Reading:: Stuff for work. I've been craving a good trashy summer read, something along the lines of Tim Dorsey or Carl Hiaasen. Just finished American Vertigo and the new-ish Peter Singer Ethics of What We Eat (better than Omnivore's Dilemma, IMHO). I'll read most anything if I have time and a comfy spot.

What I'm Listening To:: A hockey game.

Otherwise, I'm an unapologetic indie rock fan (whatever that means). Harvey Danger, the Long Winters, Death Cab, Decemberists, Nada Surf, Built to Spill, Wilco, Posies, Okkervil River, Rilo Kiley, etc, etc. Also some random favorites; Everclear (old, not the new crap), Robyn Hitchcock, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Foo Fighters, Magnetic Fields, Modest Mouse. I'll pretty much listen to anything except country (don't want to hear about losing your dog and your broken down tractor) and most rap.
