Hey fellow Ozomatli fan!! I never miss a show whenever they are in ABQ or Santa Fe. My profile pic is my son Daniel, and he's actually playing along to "Afterparty" by Ozomatli in that pic.

Best "live" band ever. At least top-five anyway!!

You are correct. Our experience has not been good. It is getting better but first impressions as they say are everything. While on the road down here our property management company called to tell us not to worry about the window-it would be replaced. Turns out that someone had thrown a rock through the first pane of the window above the garage. The second morning we were here, I went out to get a paper and some coffee put the garage door down and saw that the previously pristine white door was completely tagged with profane graffiti.

While this was our fault; we rented the house sight unseen-but we figured brand new house in new subdivision. They told us that the house was next to a cemetery-the parking lot for which was right next to the house we were renting. I have seen drug deals, people having sex on the hood of their car, and other things I am not sure we should have. In less than three months' time two homes burned out completely due to arson-one had a Molotov cocktail lobbed through the living room window.

About 8 months after we moved in, we went on vacation and came back to find one of our neighbors had strung an extension cord across to our house and was stealing our power because they could not pay their bills.

On the final day of our lease they found a dead body in the cemetery-that did not belong there. Video from Channel 4 here: http://web.mac.com/diddels/The_Diddels/Dead_Body_in_the_Ghetto..html

There were a bunch of little other incidents that I will not get into but I will say to anyone here not to rent a house site unseen anywhere here in ABQ. I only wish I had found DCF before we moved and maybe our attitude would be different.

I am a cyclist and I try to commute 2-3 days a week to work at UNMH but despite better than average bike lanes, motorists are @$$h0l3s. They do not share the road nor do they think I belong on the road.

We did get a great deal on a house in a much better neighborhood. We love our house and we stay in it most of the time. Especially at night as the drunk drivers scare us. So we don't get out to do much-my wife is scared of the drunk drivers.

We are going to stay for five years so we build some equity in our house and my wife can take advantage of my tuition remission at UNM and finish her degree. She was what brought us here-she works at VerizonWireless out on Central and Coors and was promoted provided we relocate here. VZW paid 100% of our relocation expenses which is good. We would be really bitter if we had spent our own money to move here.

On the bright side I work for UNM, have a great job doing what I love for more money than what I was getting at UW in Seattle. My wife got a promotion and was able to keep her wages from Washington which makes it very easy for us to live here.
