La Montanita on the cover of Touch the Soil magazine

What? Touch the Soil? I know, I know. I can't apologize for being such a nerd, though. It's who I am. And I wasn't going to post about this--until I saw the maggot discussion. And then it seemed relevant.

Anyway, the July/August issue of Touch the Soil magazine came this week. And guess what? The cover story is titled, "Building a New Food System: La Montanita Food Co-op builds a regional food shed."

Even though I'm a member, shop the North Valley store at least three times a week and thought I knew all about the place, I learned so much about what they're doing toward building a regional food shed.

The latest issue isn't on-line yet, but here's the magazine's website.

Laura, make sure you pick up a copy of 'Coop Connection' next time you're in the North Valley store(which is my most favorite place to go in ALL of Albuquerque). A new issue of The 'Coop Connection' comes out the first of each month and has plenty of info about what is happening with the Food Shed and the local Coop scene..

The Coop Connection is right there on the check out counter, where the bags are...

or you can get a copy online at the La Montanita web site...
