Wedding Reception

I just got engaged and we are already looking at places to have the reception. Our first choice The Hyatt Downtown is booked the day we were thinking of. My brother had his reception there and it was really nice. Plus, the offer a lot of amenities to their wedding package. So I was wondering does anybody have any good suggestions for places?

Cory, I heard that the aquarium is a pretty cool place for wedding receptions. Also, the Embassy Suites is a good central location if you need to have it at a hotel.

Good luck and most importantly, congratulations on your engagement.

Check out the Albuquerque Art Museum and the Balloon Museum.

I am actually a Balloon Pilot, so the Museum is on my list of places to check out. Thanks

Congrats on your engagement. I work as a docent at the Rio Grande Zoo and just last year they started allowing weddings and receptions to take place. It's beautiful surroundings and the magic of animals' presence adds to it. Just call the zoo at 311 in Albuquerque or 505-768-2000 out-of-town. Good luck.

All depends on your budget, but...

Prairie Star is beautiful - you can do the ceremony outside and the reception inside
Hotel Albuquerque
Sandia Casino

Feel free to send me a message with your budget, time of year, etc. and I can provide more direction. I am at the tail end of wedding planning.

If I had my wedding to do over again (and thank God I don't - waaay too much stress) I would have it at the Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town. I have been to a couple of weddings there and they were just beautiful, and the staff seemed very competent. Plus after the reception you can go to the Q Bar for a drink :)

There's lots of Bed and Breakfasts and Wineries in the N. Valley and Corrales that are really nice... some are very pricey though. We're having ours at Inn The Village in Corrales. The pictures on the site don't do it justice but the place is pretty awesome. Two gentleman from Albuquerque recently took it over and they are offering some pretty amazing rates to get some word of mouth business. They offer the entire facility with all the rooms for Friday, Saturday as well as breakfast on Sunday morning and that of course includes the grounds for the reception.

Don't know how big you're looking at but their limit is about 120-140 people. They're former event planners so they can help out with a lot of the planning.

Good luck.

I would actually suggest the Sheraton Uptown if you're looking for a hotel. The event staff is AMAZING, and they are very very committed. I planned (and executed) an event there a couple years ago, and it was all I could have hoped for and more. Congratulations and best wishes!
