yes - love them, too! I always want to say "the itchy and scratchy sushi place".

Anyone been to Noda's lately? They've been at the top of my list for a looooong time, but it has been way too long since I've been there, so I'd hesitate to recommend it just because I don't know if it has changed, etc...

I Love Sushi is excellent and inexpensive, Sushi Hama (next to Keller's) is good and has good memories for me, Mr. Sushi is one of my newer favorites - especially their Ume Shiso roll! Utter simplicity and dare I say I do not see that roll on too many other menus in town, if any.

Oh, and after a long track workout I can knock down serious value at the all-you-can-eat Sushi & Sake. Hee.

Finally, I concur with the Sakura Sushi evaluation - just passable sushi. Have Laotian instead.

Has anyone tried Taka Sushi on San Pedro? I used to go there sometimes. My sushi buddy at work always wants to go to I Love Sushi. I've not had a bad experience at Crazy Fish, so I'll go there every so often.

I'm glad to read that the sushi place on Coors that's north of Paseo is good. I always drive by there and wonder if I should take the plunge.

Taka sushi closed, Ikesan retired, his son is opening a lunch counter downtown, sometime soon.

I have been to Shogun and Crazy Fish many many times and I've never had bad service or bad fish. I love those places. Besides, who can resist the little boats floating around bringing your ginger and wasabi?

If you really want to avoid both, Light and Healthy on Harvard has some pretty awesome sushi along with other non-sushi dishes.

There is also Japanese Kitchen Sushi Bar within walking distance of Uptown Center: http://japanesekitchen.com/

Japanese Kitchen is really good. I like the ambience~ But my favorite sushi is at Sakura Sushi.
Consistently fresh sushi, and really good specialty rolls.
Nodas is still really good, and I love Mr Sushi for traditional japanese food. Also Mr Sushi has the best sushi rice! I also really like Shogun.
Ive had "weird" experiences (ie smelly sushi) at Taka Sushi. Not to mention last time they burned the eel - ewww. Azuma is also a place to avoid, pretty decor, but soggy icky sushi!

I agree about the sushi at Azuma. However, their regular grill menu and the "show" is great.

Don't try Azuma! I agree.
I am a newbie to ABQ and was recommended that I try Shogun on Central. I loved it!

Because yet another voice is necessary and will add such a clarifying touch:

I'm a vegetarian, but I love veggie sushi, so we do go sometimes for it. We (my honey isn't vegetarian, and as such tucks into the meats, too) like Japenese Kitchen Sushi Bar for its environment and food both. Always nice. We also like Shogun here in Nob Hill a lot.

We had a gift certificate for I Love Sushi up in the heights, and we went and it was good tasting: but many of the rolls were cracking open, which is an absolute no-no, speaking from a (Japanese) cultural standpoint.
