Hungry for Change Bake Sale

Hungry for Change Bake Sale

This weekend, MoveOn members will be selling cookies, cupcakes, and pies in over 700 communities around the country—all to support MoveOn programs to reach millions of voters who might not otherwise vote. Barack Obama can't win without these voters, and these bake sales are key for funding that outreach.

Here are the details of your Hungry for Change bake sale:

Diabetics for Obama!

I should clarify that I have no position on moveon, either way, and that I am all for community organizing, but... this world does not need more cookies. There are people who can't eat (most) cookies, (like celiacs like me, and like diabetics, and other specific medical diets), and there are people who just don't need to eat cookies (like everyone). And its a really bad habit, equating community support with overeating/junk food. I just had to explain to an irate mom why I was not interested in paying $1 for a kitkat bar, so her kid could go on a team trip of some sort. (and she was a diabetic, btw! I offered to donate 50 cents, since I figured that was more than her profit margin, but she called me a &*^ and walked away. Obviously, I just hated her kid or something. Oh well!) And I just love those groups of kids, who knock on your door to tell you that they are selling crack candy so that they can "stay out of gangs". Just gotta vent, I guess.

Oh, and don't get me started on the massive amount of candy I had to ceremoniously confiscate after the pride parade- besides all the loot my daughter gathered herself, quite a few kind hearted strangers gave her all their's too.

I feel better already!

I love me some candy Sarah.. and will be more than happy to take any and all confiscated candy you happen to get... for uh.. proper disposal....... :-)

I do however have a position on moveon but won't elaborate as I'm sure the poster doesn't really care to hear see it.

And on a side note, Obama will win with or without MoveOn.org.... I say that and I am not even voting for the fella....

I like cookies...I don't like Obama.

Why are you so sure he'll win?

This announcement has certainly gone off in a strange direction but if that is where it has been taken then that is where it has been taken. Now myself I like cookies, I like Obama and I like Move On. I’m not particularly fond of tofu and I don’t like the Right Wing Christian Coalition.

I don't like tofu. Just a strange idea in general I think. I like the right wing most of the time, and am fond of Christians but find coalitions in general to be a bad idea. :)
