Cheesegirl

another downtown biz goes away...

Hi all: It's time to close the door on Downtown Gourmet. I found myself without enough money to pay my home mortage this month. No business is worth losing my home to. I've had fun with all of you and the phone here will ring at my home if you need my for anything. This Saturday, 6-21 will be my last day open. By all means, come down and help me clear off the shelves. If there are any cheese left I will sell them at the downtown market on Saturdays.

Best to all

OH MY GAWWWWWDDDD NOOOOOOOO!!!! I'm deeply crushed! I'm so sorry to hear this news. Where am I going to get my bacon fix now?

hey Carey, we've shared many great conversations and laughs @ your shop over the past 2 years, you have great energy, ideas, heart and you're a pretty damn good brewer. Many thanks to you for all of your support, you will be missed.

Wow. Just wow. I'm shocked, I'm saddened, and I'm just a little angry.

How's Relish doing? Who's buying decent amounts of cheese from you and why aren't they buying more???

Are your prepared foods going to keep you going, without a storefront? How about catering, supplying all the wonderful stuff you now do, just without retail hours?

Sorry, just brainstorming with my hands on the keyboard.

I'll have to post about this on my site, too.

Oh bummers! This is a blow for gourmands citywide.

Just this weekend, a few of us were chatting about your store. Granted, we were lobbying for larger, easier-to-read signage, but it was all in the name of love.

Keep us posted on your next steps.

Move over here to the NE Heights....there's open space by the Paris Cafe and Bakery. There's money and intelligent life over in this end of town and people who have some money to spend on extras like your wonderful cheeses but don't want to go half way across town to do so. We frequent your shop in the summer (or we did, anyway), starting at the farmer's market, crossing the street to your shop, then heading back to Kellers for the evenings meats for the grill, and then to Paris for the baguette of the day and a dessert, then home to start cooking. Best of luck. We sure did enjoy your cheeses.

OH CRAP! We just moved in a block from your store, and we've been really excited about checking you out. We read an article about your place in a downtown magazine and loved your attitude. Thanks for the heads up; we will see you before you go.
Blessings in your next endeavor.

That totally blows. I've only been in a couple of times, but the stuff I got was great! I recommended your shop to many.

Thank you for all the kindest wishes. i will be employed as a sales rep for the company I've been buying from, Altamira. They are out of Denver and I am well versed in most of their inventory. Namaste.

That is so sad!

This business fit a niche I always thought downtown needed desperately. I'm so dismayed to see that I was wrong - it will be very missed!
