Good Salad?

I'm really in the mood for a good salad today. I'd usually hit Relish or The Grove, but they're closed today. I'm willing to drive out of my usual downtown corridor for one today. Whats open? Whats your favorite?

This is a topic I can sink my teeth info. (And I already have!)

Of course the salad diversity in town keeps growing. Here's my "short" list:

Il Vicino's Insalata (their rendition of Cobb, essentially), is wonderful
Relish Chop Chop
My own massive salad pile I make at Souper Salad. Hey, it's seven bucks! :-P
Viagra salad at some of sushi joints - but not all (Samurai on Gibson is pretty good)
Blackbird Buvette: blackberry/walnut/feta salad, WITH grilled salmon added. It is absolutely wonderful, but a shocking $13 after adding the protein. Still...
Scarpa's Ala Arancia (meatless, but still good)
Tucano's - salad bar!
Chama River - Tenderloin Cobb Salad (lunch)
Cafe Dalat - Lime Beef appetizer
Thai Orchid - Yam Nuea (sliced steak salad)

Mmmm, I'm getting hungry again.

Great list, Andrea.

I would also add (besides Cafe Voila & Le Crepe Pierre) Sofia's on north 4th Street a couple of blocks south of Osuna. The salad that comes w/ all entries is great, but the salad by itself, which can be topped w/ steak, grilled chicken, or the fresh fish of the day for under $10 is magnificent.

Or the Laab at Sakura Sushi, on Wyoming just south of Montgomery is an amazing salad & comes w/ either pork, chicken, beef, or shrimp.

okay here (from a meat eater)
My favorite salad place is The Cooperage. On Lomas, just east of Louisianna. I love their salad bar. It's only $3.00 with any entree (which includes the lunch specials, or the prime rib quesadilla which two can share). They have the freshest stuff, it's chilled in beds of crushed ice, and they also include soups. My favorite is the green chile chicken cream soup. It's the best in the city.

Blackbird Buvette (downtown, on Central between 5th & 6th) has a good walnut/berry salad.

Oh I almost forgot. Crazy Fish has a wonderful salad. Sometimes I go and just get a bowl of miso and the salad.
